Video Projects

Introduction

In March 2014 I bought a Panasonic HC-V520 video camera. Five years later I finally got round to using it!

I've made two films so far. In each case, clicking on the image should play the film in a new window. I say 'should' because it appears to depend on which browser you are using. If your browser won't play the films and you'd like to see them, drop me an email and I'll put them on a memory stick for you.

These are compressed versions, suitable for use on mobile phones and iPads etc. If you'd like the full-size version of either film (to watch on a computer or TV), let me know.

Breakfast with the Squirrels

Breakfast with the Squirrels was filmed on 25 mornings over a four-week period in June and July 2019. Each morning, I set the camera up in a different position on the patio and left it running for an hour while I had my breakfast.

I went through the 25 hours of video using QuickTime 7 Pro on an iMac to select the best bits and create a running order, and then wrote a script and recorded it.

Finally, the film was edited using iMovie 11: transitions, captions, commentary clips and music tracks were added.

The Garden in September

The Garden in September was filmed in late August/early September 2020. It features all the plants in the greenhouse and the front and back gardens.

After I'd finished editing it I noticed two spelling errors in the end titles - ompholodes should be omphalodes and honeysuckes should, of course, be honeysuckles. Sadly, by then I'd deleted all the working files so it was too late to put them right. Very irritating - and a useful lesson for the future!
